Meet the Schacks
Rebecca, Lenny, their two kids and the farm they have built.
We're Rebecca and Lenny Schack. Together with our 2 young kids, we make up Little Schack Farm.
We're heading into our 9th season of Farming. But in all honestly, we're still kinda new at this. See, we're first generation farmers and so we're learning as we go. Each season brings new challenges to overcome but we're figuring it out and we're doing it together.
We are a non-certified organic farm. Meaning we don't use any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We weed by hand and use compost, insect netting, worms and kelp to keep our plants happy. We practice regenerative farming which means soil first. We are using cover crops and compost to build the soil. We do not till to help keep the soil as intact as possible.
All of the seeding, growing and harvesting is done by the 2 of us (Lenny and Rebecca) with our 2 little boys somewhere near us playing in the dirt. We have a group of energy exchange staff that help us with tasks on the farm in exchange for veggies and we love the farm model we're creating.
We sell our vegetables through our local farmers market on Saturdays, to restaurants and through our CSA program (community supported agriculture).
We're passionate about getting local food out into our community and we work hard to make it accessible. We love growing food for you.
